The Zalkin family of capping systems includes beltorque® belt driven cap applicators and capping systems.

Beltorque® capping systems typically include the following integrated components:

  • Cap applicator
  • Cap orienter
  • Cap elevator with cap feed hopper

Beltorque® systems feature a space efficient footprint, ease of set-up and operation, and flexibility in terms container and cap types and sizes.

Beltorque® capping systems are widely used in the pharmaceutical and personal care industries. They are a perfect choice for plastic or glass cylindrical containers.

Beltorque® systems feature a patented PLC controlled belt-drive system that synchronizes the linear displacement speed of the container and the rotating speed of the closure. This exclusive technology delivers consistent applied torque.

Beltorque® technology uses parallel belts for screwing-on and tightening caps. This system provides positive container control throughout the capping process which delivers a repeatable and stable capping process with minimal cross threads.

Beltorque capping systems are ideal for:

  • Pharmaceutical applications that require validation
  • Speeds up to 300 cpm (18,000 cph)
  • Screw-on or snap-on closures
  • Versatile, flexible operation – no capper change parts required
  • No-scuff application of high torque closures
  • Space constrained line layouts

Beltorque inline cappers overview:

  • Flexible design accommodates a range of closure and container diameters
  • Intuitive HMI controls shorten the time required to complete the validation process
  • Closure diameters from 0.5” (12 mm) to 4.75” (120 mm)
  • Container diameters from 0.5” (12mm) to 7.0” (175 mm)
  • Container heights from 2.0” (50 mm) to 12.0” (305 mm)
  • Reject rate for cross threaded closures below 0.5%
  • Simple, on-the-fly, single-point torque adjustment
  • Accurate applied torque with tight tolerances.
  • Torque is measured in real time for each applied cap
  • Torque measurements can be referenced on the HMI
  • 5 to 10-minute size changeovers
  • Options include explosion proof and washdown designs

The Beltorque line of standalone linear capping systems includes three models:

  • BT-IC – Inline Automated Capper
  • BT-ST – Inline Screwer Capper
  • BT-RT – Inline Retorquer

The Beltorque BT-IC is a fully automatic capping system

The BT-IC uses direct pick-off technology to automatically place the cap on the container, and belts to screw-on and seal the cap to the container. Highlights include:

  • Three sets of belts using Beltorque’s synchronized belt-drive application process provide superior capping results.
  • Container gripper belts provide positive control over containers as they move through the cap application process.
  • Screw-on belts begin the cap application process
  • Tightening belts apply the remaining torque required to correctly seal the closure to the container.

The patented and the complete torque application process for every applied cap is monitored in real time to support quality assurance and control.

The BT-ST is a semi-automatic capping system:

The BT-ST automatically torques caps that have been placed on containers upstream from the capper. It completes the application process by screwing-on and tightening caps using the patented beltorque synchronized belt application system.

Highlights include:

  • Three sets of belts provide superior capping results.
  • Container gripper belts provide positive control over containers as they move through the cap application process.
  • Screw-on belts begin the cap application process
  • Tightening belts apply the remaining torque required to correctly seal the closure to the container.

The Beltorque BT-ST system is an ideal, cost effective solution for production lines running multiple SKUs with multiple cap types. In such lines, manual processes are commonly used to place caps on containers, and the BT-ST does the rest.

The BT-RT is a re-torquer system:

The Beltorque BT-RT is an inline re-torquer typically used downstream from a cap induction sealer or for caps that require addition torque to complete the capping process. It completes the retorque process using a two-belt system.

Twin container gripper belts stabilize the containers as they proceed through the re-torquing process. The tightening belts apply the final torque to the caps.

Beltorque application engineers work closely with customers to design and configure the capping systems ideally suited to each application and production environment.
